Plate Competition Quarter-finals Malaysia v Namibia

Malaysia go down to Namibia by nine wickets

Malaysia found Namibia too hot to handle and were bundled out by nine wickets in the cricket Under-19 World Cup plate round match at the Johor Cricket Academy ground yesterday.
Malaysia won the toss, elected to bat and, at the end of their innings, were 122 all out in 47 overs which saw skipper Ahmad Faiz Mohd Nor hitting a 41, including three fours, before he was lbw by Bernard Scholtz. Shahid Ali Khan weighed in a 20 but it just wasn’t going to be enough as the wickets fell quickly, leaving Namibia to chase a target which was well within their reach.
In fact, a defiant 60 from Raymond Van Schoor and a 19 from Sean Silver (lbw), Namibia’s two opening batsmen, laid the groundwork for their team’s victory. Skipper David Botha, who was the man-of-the-match, came in with a 55 not out and Namibia surpassed their target in just 31 overs.
